Last night, I stayed up late so that I could finish reading All The King's Men, the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Robert Penn Warren. The book was fascinating. Its writing was difficult, but rewarding, if followed closely. I plan to do additional research on the novel and its themes. While the novel parallels the life of Louisiana politician Huey Long ("The Kingfish"), it is much more than a fictionalized biography. Through the narrator Jack Burden, Warren explores timeless themes of morality, most notably the notion that all men have some good and some bad withen them.
