Busy Busy Busy

I haven't been able to post lately as much as I like to. I've been swamped at work with multiple projects, each of which seems to demand 110% of my time. Most of my spare time at home is spent either playing with Dominic or catching up on what I couldn't get done at the office. I thought I'd take this opportunity at 11:50 pm to post a few thoughts.

Finishing up with school last week really lifted a load off of my shoulders. I am seriously thinking of only taking one class in the spring. I'm not really in that big of a rush to receive my teaching certificate. It would be nice to get it quickly, but I am happy with my current job, so taking things slowly isn't such a bad idea. I will definitely be taking only one class in the fall, since we will have a family of four at that time.

Despite my best intentions on savoring this Christmas season, it seems to have slipped past with me hardly noticing. I can't believe tomorrow is December 21! I really wanted to get into the Christmas "feeling" this year. I started out good by going to the Parkville Christmas festival, but the days became meshed and muddled through work and school business after that. I still have most of a week to go, so I am looking forward to hearing some Christmas songs and enjoying the yuletide spirit wherever I can find it.

The Steelers won again on Sunday, beating the Giants in New York. It is nice to be able to see the Steelers win close games on the road. The past few road games, they have actually had to overcome fourth quarter deficits, so that experience bodes well for the playoffs. With New England's loss to Miami tonight (which proves just how hard it is to win as much as they do!), the Steelers can clinch (if my math is correct) homefield advantage throughout the playoffs with a win next week. That would render the Steeler game at Buffalo meaningless for the Steelers, a fact that is sure to excite Buffalo fans like Jaq. The Steelers do need to rest some of their players. They've had nagging injuries all year long--like most teams.

I've been spending the past week or two reading magazines and other material. I will start-up my fiction reading again after the first of the year. The next book on my list is Cantebury Tales. That will be a difficult read, so I thought this would be a good time to take a break. Plus, I wanted to read some more of the million magazines that I get.

Um, I guess that's all for now. I know that there was a lot more that I wanted to say, but I'm tired, and my mind is blanking.

You are right, honey. It is fun watching Dominic enjoy the Christmas season. For him, the season probably seems longer than it does for us. Time, in general, goes more "slowly" when we are young. A big part of the enjoyment of parenting is being able to watch Dominic enjoy the freshness of everyday life and special times like Christmas.
