If I could be...

This meme came my way via Sean....and I thank him for choosing me...

For three that might happen by Streams of Consiousness, I'd like Sharon, Melissa and Uncle Todd to pick five and answer. Feel free to answer on your own blog, or in the comments to this post, or not at all...

interact, by Sean Meade: I'm it: If I could be...

The task is to complete five of the sentence beginnings from the following list:

If I could be a musician...
If I could be a farmer...
If I could be a psychologist...
If I could be a lawyer...
If I could be a missionary...
If I could be a gardener...
If I could be a painter...
If I could be an architect...
If I could be a doctor...
If I could be a linguist...
If I could be a writer...
If I could be a professor...
If I could be an athlete...
If I could be a justice on any court in the world...
If I could be a world famous blogger...
If I could be married to any current world politician...
If I could be a scientist...
If I could be an actor...
If I could be a chef...
If I could be an innkeeper...
If I could be an agent...

If I could be a missionary...I'd probably find fulfillment, though I would be a missionary not necessarily to bring "religion" to other people, but to assist other people, and to help them learn. I always dreamed of volunteering for the Peace Corps.

If I could be an innkeeper...I'd own a Bed and Breakfast in an old Victorian house in northwestern Pennsylvania, or south-centeral Pennsylvania, arguably my two favorite places on earth.

If I could be a doctor...I'd be a transplant surgeon.

If I could be a lawyer...I'd be an ambulance chaser. Just kidding!! I'd either practice constitutional law, or be a public defender. I could never be a prosecutor.

If I could be a farmer...I'd grow corn. What can I say? I'm from Iowa!

If I could be...

A Gardener---I would do landscaping for private homes, my own being at the top of the list. I'd love to know what things to plant where.

An architect---I would create private homes, again my own being at the top of the list. I enjoy studying the architecture of other types of buildings, but I really like interesting homes. I love water and lots of different stairs, hidden nooks...(Fallingwater).

An innkeeper---I'll stick with husband Eric on this. An old Victorian home or a rambling farmhouse in PA, like in Tionesta or Ligonier.

A Psychologist---I'd specialize in postpartum depression.

A Writer---I'd create a new exciting children's book character. Or I'd weave my memoirs into fiction, to make a "normal" life compelling.

If I could be a professor I would be a theatre professor at a small college or university. I LOVED getting my education and the opportunity to have so much hands on experience. It was a safe encouraging environment to grow in and I look for that type of work environment to this day. Theatre can be a wonderful tool to help people see things in themselves and others that are often overshadowed by "normal" life.

If I could be a lawyer I would represent those who have to fight society in order to receive the same rights and privilages all in this world should be entitled to. I would work to change laws that represent what people don't know and fear and make laws that are a more honest representation of the mix of people that are subject to the law.

If I could be an innkeeper I would own a delightful open and airy inn near the ocean. I'm reminded of some delightful cottages in Bethany Beach, DE that were beachside but surrounded by trees and plants. My Inn would be painted the colors of tropical fruit - fun, but not to busy (work with me here people). I would have a big deck where there would be Parrothead Phlockings nightly. The gift shop would offer super fun kites and lots of Buffett gear. *note to self - look harder for this job*

If I could be a painter I would be SO very happy. =) Having suffered through two semesters of drawing and design classes in college I SO wished I could be one of those people who could use their hand to create what they see. I've got the abstract thing down though. =)

And finally, if I could be a scientist, I would create a pill, a treatment, a something, so when people communicate with each other, especially in a family/personal relationship type setting, they both listen and understand what the other is saying. And while we're at it, it encourages them to comunicate period. Maybe it would be a psychic kinda thing. You wouldn't have to like what the other person said, just be open to discuss and consider the subject as a possible reality. I so often don't say things because I'm afraid of the reaction they will get or sometimes, because I just don't think it will matter but looking back, it SO often does. Not only what I think and say, but what others do.

I was just reading about turning the other cheek and thinking about loving people like really loving even if they annoy me or even harder if i fear i annoy them which really makes me want to smear them so i feel better about myself and i felt very led to go read this blog so i checked and there wasn't a new post so i thought maybe i'm supposed to do the list thing but then i started reading the ones that were there and I loved them and was delighted to see mel's because i have been hunting for your blog .but then i got cannot find server.so close but yet so far away.... but then i read your thing about taking a pill and i think that's why I'm here.I really like what you said i have been feeling this way a lot lately and have really really tried to listen and love even when i don't understand or feel misunderstood. in our little fellowship at our house I have actually started praying as people speak that there wouldn't be misunderstanding and hurt feelings, that our hearts would be soft towards each other.I can be sooo stinking defensive.Anyway I know this is pretty random but I just really enjoyed your thoughts, mel and I know you have such a huge heart and I can learn from that.
